The Page Brothers present “Jazz From the Carolinas”: a collection of tunes written by the great musicians from North Carolina and South Carolina! Jazz stalwarts Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie are widely known to hail from this region. The substantial list of other Carolina-born jazzers includes Max Roach, Nina Simone, Freddie Green, Woody Shaw, Billy Taylor, and Tal Farlow among others. In addition to featuring music by these artists, this program will present tunes from contemporary Carolina composers including members of the group.
