Alexa Rose @ Asheville Music Hall 2-24-2017
Alexa Rose was born and raised in southwestern Virginia, where she spent her formative years writing songs about bears in her bedroom window and yodeling from the top of her parents’ mountain home. Her music is rootsy and alternative folk, with just a dash of those old, haunted country songs thrown in. Since 2013, Rose has called the Carolina mountains home. These days, you can find her playing shows in many of the music hubs of Appalachia, often sporting her trusty, dusty Frye boots and blue electric guitar, affectionately called “Fruit Loop.” Her most recent project, released in April 2016, was recorded in Mountain City. “Rose released her debut recording in 2013, and “Red Balloon” is the much-anticipated follow-up for fans of this up-and-coming rising voice of the region. Rose moved to Boone to attend school at Appalachian State University, and she has been touring up and down the region heavily, gathering fans along the way.” – The Mountain Times
Rose’s new album, titled “Low and Lonesome” is due to be released later this fall. The album features accomplished regional musicians like Matt Smith of the Honeycutters, and JT Linville and Timothy Fisher of Pretty Little Goat Stringband.
